What’s the big deal about goat’s milk?

If you suffer from health challenges caused by cow’s milk dairy, goat’s milk products may be an ideal alternative. You will still get all the nutritional benefits of whole dairy, including vitamins, minerals and amino acids that are vital to overall wellness. In most of the world goat’s milk dairy is the primary form of dairy, and it should be part of your diet too.

So, what’s the difference?

Essentially, the chemical structure of cow’s and goat’s milk differ in significant ways which have an impact on how the body can absorb and use the nutrients. A different protein composition means that the curd produced by goat’s milk is much softer and easier to digest than cow’s milk.

Goat’s milk is a good source of calcium which is important in promoting strong bone growth and preventing osteoporosis later in life.

Benefits to children:

Children who suffer from eczema, asthma or gastrointestinal complaints may benefit a great deal from the switch to goat’s milk dairy products.

Research shows that cow’s milk is a major cause of colic in infants. Breastfeeding mothers have had much success in reducing their babies’ symptoms by switching their own diet to goat’s milk dairy.

In comparison to cow’s milk, goat’s milk:

  • Is naturally homogenised, meaning that the fat is evenly distributed through the milk.
  • Contains more minerals and vitamins
  • More easily digested due to the smaller fat and protein particles
  • Contains 50% more vitamin B1
  • Contains 10 times more natural fluorine
  • Is pure white because the carotene content is completely converted into vitamin A

For people with allergies and other health challenges, goat’s milk products are likely to be a great alternative. In comparison to plant-based products, goat’s milk contains high levels of vitamins and minerals that are essential for healthy growth and development, especially calcium.

If you’re looking for an alternative dairy option, it’s easy to substitute cow’s milk products for goat’s milk, yoghurt and cheese.
